Ok, sorry for the pun! You just have to have one bad line every now and again.
Meg and I had the privilege of introducing Enik to his first Easter this year. Ok, so we where bad parents and didn't get him a basket, but come on, what would he do, drool on it? Anyway, E got have a special time of worship at church and then got to have lunch at Gramy Pam and Papa's house. We flew kites, ate burgers, played with eggs, and E got to cuddle with his aunts' Melis, Sharron and Christy and "rough" around with his Uncles and nephews. I even think he got to talk march madness with his uncle Jerrod. Later that day, we headed to our house where E got to see his Grandma Vanessa, Pa' Pa' and aunt Mindy. We had an easter egg hunt at the part and had a blast. It was an AWESOME Easter!!!! Anyway, that was E's first Easter; can't wait untill next year!
Happy Easter!

Get a Grip!!
He is SO CUTE, if I say so myself! Enik has started reaching and grabbing over the past few days. It started when I was lotioning him after his bath; he was suffering through his morning "beauty" regimen that his mom has established for him. During this dreadful time, E was grunting and swinging his arms and legs when he discovered a new favorite toy; his hair brush (thank God, he does have some of his dad in him). From that point on, he began reaching and holding on to things as much as he possibley can. It's precious, expesially when he frimley grasps my finger, looks me in the eye and smiles. There is nothing more pricless than that; nothing. For a moment, there is a physical conection between my son and me, a "magic moment." In a few moments, his attention will wonder or he will have exausted all his streanth, and he will gentley let go and move on to something else.
So often, I find myself just like Enik; reaching and grasping for things that I think I must have, only to achieve it, and soon get board with it. I've chased so many things, believing they where going to satisfy or fulfill me when in the end, they often seemed empty and hollow. The money I earn, the house, the car, the degree, the clothes, the persona I want the world to see me as; all of it can be great, but at the end of the day, if they are the only thing we're grasping for, it will leave us empty. The money will get spent, the car will break down, the degree will loose it's luster, the clothes will go out of style and let's face it, when we get home at night, no matter how good we are at presenting our selves to the rest of the world, we still have to face our true selves in the mirror. The greatest thing is that we can reach for more than just those things. We can live in such a way that we reach out and touch those around us for a "magic moment" that will leave a wake of impact that will never tarnish or leave us empty. When we strive to be people of character and integrity, when we reach out to feed the needy or cloth the poor. When we extend kindness to those around us, even the people we just can't stand, we reach for something that is much greater than the temporary stuff we so often spend the majority of our lives trying to attain.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also
